St. Edward’s Church: Custom Stained Glass Feature
We’re excited to announce that our most recent custom church stained glass project is now officially complete. The successful project was for St. Edward’s Church in Pennsylvania. The church wanted to create a special tribute piece for the memorial of their pastor that had passed away. They also wanted to address functionality by replacing the large window overlooking the main street, so they could conceal this view during their services. St. Edward’s interviewed many companies and decided to go with ours for this important project.
The Custom Stained Glass Process for St. Edward’s Church
The church set out for this project about two years ago during the pandemic. We relied on electronic communications for the design process when normally this would be done in person. We created a variety of versions of the tree of life design they requested. During the review process, our team overheard Father Rick discussing his idea of creating another stained glass window that showed his favorite Bible teaching – Jesus on the Sea of Galilee. We thought it would be worth a shot so we created this design for presentation. The Father and church both loved the design and decided to move forward with this one. We wanted to create dimension in the panel and did so through painting and shading. We also wanted to add some diversity to the other figures shown with Jesus and painted calm seas as a metaphor for the calm after the storm. Regardless of some of the installation challenges, we were still able to successfully create a continuous, cohesive panel design.
