Traditional Stained Glass

Typically, one pictures traditional stained glass to be colorful and bright, or like church stained glass. However, traditional stained glass can be created using all clear, leaded and beveled glass also. Traditional stained glass windows can be interpreted in a variety of ways. Victorian styles tended to be colorful. However, by using leaded designs without color, we can create the traditional style you have been hoping for, but still offer you a choice that will flow with the look of your home.

Contemporary Stained Glass

Contemporary designs often incorporate more of a straight line approach with art deco, prairie and mission style characteristics. The great architect Frank Lloyd Wright designed stained glass in many of his buildings and merged the glass into the building to create a seamless transition from architecture to art. As mentioned these distinctive contemporary designs are often linear, simplistic, clean, geometrical, and somewhat abstract. Accents of color in contemporary windows can highlight certain aspects of the designs.

Celtic, Mackintosh, Art Nouveau and other stained glass styles

As a former Scotsman, owner Martin Faith loves to incorporate styles of glass from the old country. The works of Charles Rennie Mackintosh are a particular favorite. Mackintosh designed the Glasgow Art School and inspired thousands of artists worldwide. “As a youngster in Glasgow I had no thoughts of becoming an artist until the day I visited the Willow Tea Rooms in Sauchiehall St. and saw the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh,” says Martin. Celtic designs are another favorite with their intriguing knotwork designs and the Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th/ early 20th century had strong roots in Glasgow, Scotland.
